Daughter of Smoke and Bone Jewelry Sale & Giveaway
I'm a huge fan of both Janet Cadsawan and Laini Taylor so when I was asked to help promote their joint venture for jewelry for the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, I jumped at the chance. The entire collection is utterly gorgeous, and it's on sale this month!! There's also a fabulous giveaway below that you won't want to miss! ;)
Janet Cadsawan, the definitive New York-based designer of creating evocative statement fashion jewelry from books, brilliantly captures in her latest captivating collection the visual essence of the epic fantasy Daughter of Smoke and Bone by National Book Award Finalist author Laini Taylor.
Cadsawan’s keen eye and unsurpassed talent for not only spot-on best-seller predictions but also fabulous fashion forward jewelry has resulted in her noted and popular collections such as The All Souls Trilogy, and the Sookie Stackhouse Series-cum-HBO’s True Blood. A piece or two of her popular inspired True Blood Collection adorns the show’s voracious vampire Eric Northman aka Swedish transplant, Alexander Skarsgård.
Her dazzling Daughter of Smoke & Bone Jewelry Collection is perfect for fashionistas and book fans alike. Designed to reflect a visual and wearable memory of the book’s very soul via the collection’s precise styling like the mesmerizing Mephistis Necklace, or the amazing Adder Bracelet that seamlessly joins snake vertebrae on a simple thread of rubber. Also the Donti Necklace, which combines a talisman tooth couplet on a thin bronze chain. All pieces perfectly pair with his and her black leathers, pegged denim, lusty laces, and mysteriously macabre maxis of this season’s dark-sided sumptuous styles.
Collection pieces are available in 10K gold, sterling, brass, bronze and steel. And so fittingly, true to the story – all pieces symbolize hope, wishes and love.
And now, only for the month of January, you can get 25% off ALL of the pieces in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone collection! Use coupon code: Brimstone
Q&A with Janet
Janet, can you tell us what was it about Daughter of Smoke and Bone that inspired you to create this collection?
The short answer? Because I LOVED the book! Lol The long answer is that it's completely character driven. I love the characters. In the beginning I wanted to make jewelry for each character, but in the end I decided to make the jewelry to go with all the different elements of the book, Resurrection, what a parent would do for a child, how love conquers all. It was very Dumbledore-ish, it made me realize that the characters really represented bigger issues and that inspired the jewelry. Some of it is very literal, like the wishbone, which signifies what a father would do for their child to keep them from getting hurt. The wishbone is the heart of the book, it's Karou's coming of age, representing how things get darker in the book.
What is your favorite piece from the collection and why is it your favorite?
Actually, I haven't made my favorite piece yet. It's coming though! It's the hamsas. I really wanted to include this piece in the collection, but it’s difficult to make because everyone knows what the hamsas is supposed to look like. I want to make it very realistic, and hands are the most difficult to sculpt, to draw, and to create. I plan to have it completed and added to the collection by Valentine's Day. I wish I could share it you now!
What piece from the book would you want to add to the collection that you didn't get to make?
I am working on adding a medallion of Brimstone to the collection. It was a piece that was requested specifically by Laini Taylor, and we have discussed since the beginning. It is also set to be completed and added to the collection before Valentine's Day! Also, Guppies are also coming before Valentine's day!
Finally, is there any last thoughts or information that you’d like to leave your fans with?
I’m trying to make a smaller version of the wishbone, possibly as an earring. I would like to know if this is something that fans would be interested in. So in the comments below, please tell me if this is something you’d like to see added to the collection!
