Covet Feature Author: Christy Gissendaner

, by Kt Clapsadl

As long time readers of this blog know, I absolutely love all things Paranormal. So much so, that when the position for the Publicity Director of Entangled Publishing's Paranormal Romance line, Covet, opened up, there wasn't even a moment's hesitation in knowing this position was perfect for me. Covets have all the sexiness, emotion, and happily ever after that readers have come to expect and love from Entangled. They are firmly grounded in the contemporary world, but each novel brings in supernatural twists, breaking the contemporary and paranormal rules, alike. To find out more about our titles, chat with authors, participate in special events, and to find out what books you’ll be coveting next, visit the Entangled website, follow us on Twitter, and LIKE our Facebook page.

I love being able to combine work and play, so I'll be featuring all of our authors as they release their new titles. Each one will be stopping by to share their top 5 favorite paranormal characters. Today's guest is Christy Gissendaner for her new release, One Hot Knight. This is one you won't want to miss! So, please join me in welcoming Christy!

Thank you for having me today. I’m always excited to do countdowns. And what a countdown it is! The only problem was limiting myself to five of my favorite characters from the world of paranormals.

Without any further ado, here’s my list!

#5. Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Dracula –

Source

Okay, so I may need a crystal ball to accurately state that Dracula is my new addiction, but I’m 99.9% sure that come October, I’ll be manically watching (and re-watching) this series. NBC has cast my favorite period actor ever in the iconic, leading role of Dracula. Be still my beating heart…or better yet, don’t be still. I want this sexy vampire to get a whiff of the blood in my veins and come knockin’. ; )

#4. Ash in Army of Darkness –

To this day, Bruce Campbell cracks me up in the third installment of the Evil Dead movies. I barely even remember the first two movies. He’s not exactly paranormal per se, but a time-warping, prophesized savior stuck in the 1300’s has to count, right? If you haven’t seen this movie, shame on you.

#3. Akasha from Queen of the Damned –

Source

Who cares if she’s the villain? Akasha easily slides into third place with the slithering evilness that you just love to hate. Which also leads me to…

#2. Lestat from Queen of the Damned –

Maybe it was the music. Maybe it was the oh-so-droolworthy Stuart Townsend. Or just maybe it was the eternal sexiness of Lestat himself. No matter whether it was in book or movie form, I was in LOVE with the vampire Lestat. (Honorable Mention: He didn’t make the countdown cause it would be cruel of me to add another Damned character. But Vincent Perez as Marius? Wowza!)

Here it is…my ultimate favorite paranormal character EVER. Don’t laugh. No matter how campy, no matter how embarrassing, no one can beat my number one. Drum roll, please…

#1. Kira from Xanadu –

Source

Olivia Newton John skating out of a painting decked out in a white dress slit-up-to-there and what can only be called a sweatband around her blonder-than-blonde head. Even at the tender age of two, yes, I knew this movie had “Rotten Tomatoes” written all over it. But I distinctly remember plopping my toddler butt down in front of the television (tin foil antenna included) to watch what would become my ultimate favorite movie. This movie had it all…an annoying male lead, a much-needed guest spot from the dapper, clarinet-playing Gene Kelly (not ashamed to admit that I grew up to become a clarinet player myself), a skating rink, and a rocking soundtrack featuring ELO. What can I say? It was the eighties!

So that’s it for my countdown. Do you agree, disagree? I’ve got a ton of other favorites, but we’ll save those for a rainy day.

Thanks for having me!

Thanks Christy! I have to admit that Jonathan Rhys Meyers looks mighty tempting. I may just have to check the show out. And a HUGE yes to the characters from The Queen of the Damned movie. One of my favs!

Stupid curse!

Yves Sucat was a Crusader trapped in a canine body…until a beautiful twenty-first century dog groomer offered the missing link to break his spell. But Regina Patterson was no fluffy-headed female who would instantly melt at Yves' silvery seduction. The more time he spent with the tender-hearted blonde, the less he was able to keep his paws—hands!—off of her.

Regina was much more comfortable with dogs than men, and the stunningly handsome – stunningly male – knight who now shared her apartment was no exception. She’d hoped to find a man as loyal as the pooches she pampered day after day, but would Yves’s broken curse end with her own broken heart?
